In this article, we will discuss some typical malfunctions and precautions associated with electrolyte analyzers.
1. How To Solve The Problem When The Detector Fails
There are 4 reasons for the failure of the detector:
①The detector’s plug and the host board are loose.
②The detector itself is broken.
③The fixing screw on the valve core and the motor rotating shaft are not tightened in place.
④The valve core itself is too tight and cannot rotate. The order of inspection is ③-①-④-②.
2. Causes and Treatment Methods of Poor Sample Aspiration
There are mainly the following 4 reasons for poor sample aspiration, which can be checked along the “from simple to complex” approach.
①Check whether there is air leakage in the connecting pipes at each interface of the pipeline (including the connecting pipes between electrodes, between electrodes and valves, and between electrodes and pump tubes). This phenomenon is manifested as no sample aspiration.
②Check whether the pump tube is stuck or too tired. At this time, the pump tube should be replaced with a new one. The phenomenon manifests itself as abnormal sound coming from the pump tube.
③There is protein precipitation in each pipe, especially at each joint. This phenomenon is manifested as unstable positioning of the liquid flow velocity process, even if a new pump pipe is replaced. The solution is to remove each joint and clean it with water.
④If there is something wrong with the valve itself, check it carefully.
3. Causes and Solutions of Electrode Drift and Loss of Control
①The most common reason for electrode drift is that the ground wire is not connected properly. The ground wire should be checked; check whether the drifting electrode silver rod is not inserted into the signal socket or has poor contact.
②If the voltage is unstable, it is best to connect to a UPS uninterruptible power supply or a better quality regulated power supply (poor quality regulated power supply will cause electrode drift).
③To avoid electromagnetic interference, equipment with larger power should be kept as far away from the instrument as possible and the power supply should be set independently.
④Check whether the standard liquid and cleaning liquid have been used up; check whether the reference filling liquid in the flow cell is too little and it should be filled in time.
⑤When Na and pH electrodes drift, they should be cleaned with glass electrode cleaning solution. Then rinse repeatedly with distilled water.
⑥If the electrodes all drift, you should check whether the reference electrode is expired.
⑦The positioning is not good, resulting in the solution not fully immersing the electrode, and the positioning operation should be performed again.
⑧If there are bubbles above the reference electrode, tap the flow cell gently to move the bubbles above the Na electrode.
⑨The reagent is expired or contaminated. Check the A and B standard solutions and cleaning solution bottles to see if there is any flocculent precipitate.
4. What To Do When The Electrode Slope Decreases
①Too much protein is adsorbed on the electrode membrane plate
②The air humidity is too high;
③The temperature is too low
④Life is coming to an end
In the fourth case, the user needs to replace the electrode. The first type can be treated with a protein-removing solution. There are special cleaning solutions for Na and pH electrodes. The remaining electrodes can be treated with a protein cleaning solution prepared by dissolving a piece of protease in 30m10.1M hydrochloric acid. Use the first cleaning function of the service program to clean repeatedly to remove proteins, then rinse several times with PVC cleaning solution, and then test the sample after the calibration is stable.
The second and third situations mainly affect the Na and pH electrodes. The air humidity is too high, so a dehumidifier should be used for dehumidification: if the temperature is too low, it can be heated indoors. If these two conditions are not available, you can use a hair dryer to heat and dehumidify the Na electrode, H electrode, and signal plate before measurement.
5. Reasons and Solutions for Abnormal Values In Test Blood Samples
When testing a blood sample, if there are abnormal values, follow these steps to check:
①Whether there are high-power electrical appliances running or leaking electricity nearby (such as centrifuges, refrigerators), causing voltage fluctuations.
②Inhaled coagulation during test.
③If the solution is not in place, you can check whether the positioning is good. If the solution is not in place, you can use the repositioning program in the service program to reposition.
④Check whether the container holding the blood sample is contaminated and whether disinfectant and other substances remain.
⑤Check whether the correction factor is correct. If there is any abnormality, you can clear the correction factor.
⑥If it has not been calibrated for a long time, it can be recalibrated and then measured again.
